To ensure optimum doberman health and to
give your doberman puppy a healthy start
you will want
to make an appointment with your vet as soon as
you get the pup home.
Along with check ups,
your vet will schedule a series of shots which generally
will include the following:
6-8 WEEKS:
First DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvo virus)
Parainfluenza virus (Only recommended where there is a threat of exposure)
Leptospirosis (Only recommended where there is a threat of exposure).
10-12 WEEKS:
Second DHP
Heartworm Prevention
Kennel Cough Vaccination.
Unless of course the doberman breeder from which
you purchased your doberman pup has already
provided some or all of these shots. If so, they
should provide you with the proper documentation
at the time of purchase.
Other Health Care Issues Regarding Dobermans
Aside from the routine puppy shots and regular check-ups,
there are other dobe health care issues you
should be aware of.
Providing healthcare throughout your dog's life
can be quite costly. A good pet insurance plan
can help offset the cost of providing quality
healthcare to your doberman. Especially
in the case of an emergency.
