What is Clicker Puppy Training?

Clicker puppy training is a positive reinforcement dog training technique using a small inexpensive hand held device called a clicker and some doggie treats.

A trainer may begin the clicker training sessions by simply going through a few rounds of click and treat with the dog---teaching the dog to first associate the click with the treat. After which the dog will learn to associate obeying command words with a click and treat.

Clicker training is especially useful when training a dog basic commands such as sit, shake, stand, come, stay, down or whatever else you are trying to teach your dog to do.

At the very instant the dog obeys the command the trainer clicks the clicker and also rewards the dog with a treat letting him know he has done the right thing.
