One of the biggest problems you may face when you have a young dog is destructive behavior due to separation anxiety. Separation anxiety is a form of anxiety
brought on by leaving your dog home alone.

Chewing on clothes, furniture and other personal items may only be one form of destructive behavior you have noticed after returning home. Scratched doors or windows, excessive barking and finding that your dog did his business in inappropriate parts of your home can also be indications of separation anxiety.

Experts say that introducing your dog to new people, places and other dogs within the first three months of their lives is critical in raising a well socialized and behaved dog. Socializing in conjunction with crate training and gradually getting your dog accustomed to being alone should help reduced the incidence of separation anxiety.
