Dog Mange is caused by small animals called mites.

Mites are small animals related to ticks. Mites and Ticks are not classified as insects. These parasites are in the order Acarina along with spiders and scorpions (arachnids).

While some mites live in water, others live on land. Some mites are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Adult mites have a saclike body with four pairs of legs. Its mouth has grasping and piercing organs used for entering the host.

Many varieties of mites spend at least part of their lives as parasites. Some feed on the juices of plants while others suck the blood and eat cell tissues from animals.

A working dog is a dog that is trained to perform certain tasks for it's owner. Tasks performed by working dogs include:

  • Guard dogs - used to protect people and property.
  • Herding dogs - used for herding and controlling livestock animals around the world.
  • Detection dogs - can sniff out illegal drugs, plants and even bombs.
  • Police dogs - used to take down criminals.
  • Service dogs - are used worldwide to assist deaf and/or blind people.
  • Hunting dogs - used by hunters for finding and retreiving game animals.
  • Cadaver dogs - Used for finding bodies in wooded areas and disaster sites.
  • Tracking dogs - used for tracking down criminals or missing persons.
  • Rescue dogs - Help in rescuing people from dangerous situations.


    Doberman Pinschers are highly intelligent, loyal and make great pets today but were originally breed to perform protective/guard duties.
